Comparing cameras across systems, especially when they have sensors of different sizes, is not straightforward. That doesn’t mean it’s difficult, but you have to take certain rules into account so that comparing photographs from each camera will actually tell you something about the relative quality of each machine. Or rather, of how they perform under identical circumstances and settings.

James Wei has posted a nice series on Equivalence, which I encourage you to read. I will, however, recommend that you read them in a slightly different order to that which he used. I hope James doesn’t mind:
