I’m very excited to announce that Tamrac has donated an Adventure Messenger 4 (in your choice of red or grey) for our April prize!! redbag

I was SO impressed with all of the thoughtful answers you gave to last month’s question about what you could do for your business if you dedicated 15 minutes a day.  Because this month’s prize is a bag designed to hold your equipment, I want to know which piece of equipment is your favorite and why. It doesn’t have to be just a lens… it can be anything at all that makes your life as a photographer better or easier!  Leave a comment with your answer to be entered to win the Tamrac Adventure Messenger 4.

We are so excited to welcome a fantastic marketing resource to Jules Cafe, Duct Tape Marketing, with John Janstch. I had found Janstch’s blog recently and been intrigued by all of his great ideas for marketing for small businesses. John Jantsch has been called the Worlds Most Practical Small Business Expert for consistently delivering real-world, proven small business marketing ideas and strategies. Sounds good to me.

I was writing a press release on Jules Cafe the other day, and Marty said, “oh, I’ve got a great book that will help you with that!” Guess what book it was? Duct Tape Marketing, by John Janstch!

Be sure to check out ‘marketing’ and ‘business’ here on Jules Cafe to see his posts on branding, referrals, networking, and building character in your business. Good stuff. Glad to have you, John!

Take some time to check out the Duct Tape Marketing blog for yourself, and be sure to come back and visit Jules Cafe often as we will be tagging posts of interest to help you to market your business.

Today we are welcoming a new resource to Jules Café: the very information site, PhotoShop Instructions.  WELCOME!!! This morning I received an email from Karl Poulos, the co-founder of PhotoShop Instructions, asking to be a part of the feeds here at Jules Café. I went to check out his site and found how-to PhotoShop instructions on such useful things as de-aging and wrinkle removal, teeth whitening, and how to remove unwanted elements from images.

I knew the readers of Jules Café could benefit from the wealth of information Karl and his team at PhotoShop Instructions are offering the photographic community, so I happily agreed to include posts from their site here. Be sure to check out their site, PhotoShop Instructions, or become a fan on their Facebook page.

Also, if you have a site that you would like to include here on Jules Café, PLEASE feel free to shoot an email to me at info@julescafe.com. We would love to hear from you!

OliveEvery month, look for Olive’s face on the Jules Café blog to answer a question and be entered in that month’s contest!

I was recently interviewed by the amazing Kevin Kubota, and one question he asked in particular really stood out for me.  If you could do one thing for your business for 15 minutes every day, what would it be?  And in honor of Mr. Kubota, the winner of this month’s contest will win a fabulous Kubota Imaging Tools Flashdrive Dashboard.  I have one, and not only does it make finding all of your actions easy breezy, but it makes it that much easier to discover new ones you may have over-looked.

If you want to play, just click on “add a comment” and give us your tip!

cute little joyBesides being a super cool guy, Ron Dawson is an accomplished writer, director, and award-winning video producer, speaker, instructor, and columnist. One wonders if he sleeps. He was recently named to the EventDV 25, one of the top 25 event videographers in the industry as voted by his peers. Ron is also host of the weekly audio podcast “F-Stop Beyond “, a personal interview with the nation’s top photographers (Jules was one of the first guests, and you can listen to her episode here .)

Ron’s company, Dare Dreamer (formerly Cinematic Studios), is the definitive leader in providing video production and marketing services to the pro photographic community. They are the official videographers for WPPI, Pictage, and PhotoPlus Expo and were the master minds behind the Joe Photo spoof “Diary of a Washed Up Rock Star Wedding Photographer” and “The Devil Wears Boda” (see both online at cinematicstudios.com/wppi). You can see more examples of their work in the photographic community, including their super cool promo videos, at csiprophoto.com.

Ron’s latest adventure with the photographers is his web-hit reality show “The Longest Day” which stars, among many fantastic others, the one and only Jules Bianchi.

Recently I found the website Design Aglow and I wanted to share it with you! It’s an online resource with information and products for professional wedding and portrait photographers designed to inform, teach, and inspire. And inspire they do! It’s made up entirely of contributors from the photography industry and it’s completely reader supported. Meaning they host no ads or sponsors. You yourself can contribute to Design Aglow– they are constantly looking for new ideas and writers. I found an adorable template of ideas for grouping portraits… what a great gift for clients!
